I love the line about how holding a hot cup of tea is the closest thing to holding fire in your hands! Also, you were smart to remind readers up north that it is WINTER in Chile right now. Because we are battling a heat dome and lots of wildfires.
Thanks Carl! So good to read your comment. I’ve been without power and internet these past few days, can you imagine? Plenty of time to read, but a dead phone haha. So I had to resort to a classic book with actual pages I could touch. I’ll head over to your post later, I want to know what other car part fell off!
Thank you so much Kieran! I saw your comment right as I lost signal, power, and internet in the wind and rain storm that hit Chile. Just catching up now!
Making a cup of hot tea has long been a way for me to "take back" my time. Just some minutes, not doing anything else, just focusing on the tea. I need to do this more.
Beautiful!! To take back the time, love it. There was a huge windstorm here in Chile that left me without power and internet, so I’m just catching up now! Thank you so much for your beautiful comment!

What a lovely read! Like a meditation. Made my brain slow down. I think I'll go and make some tea ;-)
Thanks Judy!! I've been without power these past few days because of the storm, just catching up now!
Pamela I’m enjoying a cup now as I absorb your beautiful words
Hi John! That brings warmth to my heart!
I love how you see a cup of tea as a safe space. I too think of tea as more than a beverage. For me it holds the possibility of connection and conversation and carrying forward ancient rituals: https://bespoketraveler.substack.com/p/retreat-and-gather?r=a43bd&utm_medium=ios
Yes! Beautifully written! It’s amazing how a simple ritual like bringing a cup to your mouth bridges centuries of history and human connection.
"And a cup of tea is the smallest shelter there is" Absolutely love this Pamela!
